GOOD BOOK

I held onto your story like a good book

It's the kind that makes the coffee cold

Makes it okay to wait in line sometimes

Cause it makes the time go by just fine

And you know the final pages

The blank ones that just take up space

I always try to turn them slow

Takes a lot to let a good book go

I'm waiting for this plot to explain itself

Trying hard to sleep alone

Waiting for a simple sign

But I don't know what that would look like

What else wakes you in the night, like love does

And stumbles through an unlit hall

Pulling pages from my notebook

Leaves me wondering if I’ve slept at all

How do they make it those people like us

But the one’s without love

If I can't see where the rain goes after if falls

How will I know if anything grows it all

Please believe me, I know it's not easy

I tried to leave the city but it took my hand

Showing me its troubled past

Daring me to stay away

Found a feather on the pavement

And I picked it up cause I’m a fool

Used it to mark the pages

From the last time I talked to you

How do they make it those people like us

But the one’s without love

If I can't see where the rain goes after if falls

How will I know if anything grows it all

Please believe me, I know it's not easy
